mistake is a mistake is a mistake. We have the power to choose to let them break forsake unmake or rake us over burning coals of our own ignition But I, I choose to create remake facilitate and disobey those patterns that habit tells me to cling to those habits that my mistakes tell me to continue And it is with fear and adrenaline blind faith and celebration that I brave and misbehave and rage into the world Compassion is a light we shine on others with delight But the fright and the fight that we hide so tenderly inside Denies us the right to shine that light on our own side – to let us forgive and consent live without repent live outrageously compassionately brashly and unfashionably The darkness of a mistake can hold us in our place move us backward at a pace that makes desperate minds want to erase any history any trace of what we’ve done in past days But that darkness too can surround us Breathe into us – ground us Give us mindfulness and vision distinction, precision clarity and fusion an escape from the illusion that we are our mistakes that they take our place that we’re all just trying to save face that I’m just some rat in a cage Of course, there are days when I can hardly stand against the oceans and waves the desire to melt into my grave to destroy what’s been made by my hand by my flame The difference now is I move on The difference now is with every mistake every dark day every silent rage every fabricated cage is I move on Every minute I grow stronger less oblivious a little smarter And the less I let self-defeating thoughts infect my body my mind my spirit oh, be sure you’ll find that I have decided to not spend my time defending weak minds that leech and suck on the minds of the kind Because kindness is not weakness not a waste of time not a sickness So now I dive head-first into the open arms of the Earth the only true Rebirth. |
