- Poetry - “You do you”
is just another bullshit excuse to not have to own up to all the shitty things we do. It’s another hashtag philosophy that allows us to forget what philosophy means; that allows us to reduce the Mariana Trench of truth to a line in the sand you scuffed with your shoe. Lovecraftian things with sharp pointy teeth make their home at the bottom of the sea, which makes the allure of the shallows in some way understandable but, jesus, with the standard of living we allow we value splashing in tub-deep waters and overfishing the surface of the sea above giving a first or second thought to the expanse of alien life percolating beneath our treading feet. Breath deep and go under because an inflatable raft only provides comfort until you realize its fragility while floating through the harsh reality of plastic human stupidity. Go where there’s depth because while “you do you” there’s a bottom feeder – a pair of ragged claws – living in volcanic heat in harmony with the pressured dark that will outlive you and your hashtag existence too. |
